Video Project

This video project examines the history of women's struggle for acceptance and respect in the punk music scene. The Riot Grrrl movement, which started in the early 90s, created a space where women could be heard, seen, and taken seriously as musicians and artists while challenging the misogyny and marginalization that had long characterized punk culture. Even though women-led bands are far more normalized now, their existence is not the product of easy advancement but rather of decades of activism and perseverance. This projecthelps viewers to acknowledge the influence of the movement and consider the work that is still ongoing by examining the obstacles women encountered as well as the communities they created in response.
